Welcome to Groovetrail.org!
Groovetrail is a 501 (c)3 organization based in the beautiful Flathead Valley of northwestern Montana. Founded by saxophonist Erica von Kleist, our mission is to bring live music and music education to those who need it most.
Groovetrail's Gift of Music Program sends local musicians to care facilities, nursing homes and rehab centers for performances. In 2017 we produced over 70 outreach performances for almost a dozen venues. To view our Spring 2018 lineup click on "Gift of Music".
Our Jazz Education initiatives consist of the Groovetrail Jazz Camp, taking place August 13th-17th at Whitefish High School, and the Flathead Ellington Ensemble, and all-star jazz ensemble of the most talented high school students in the valley. These students will travel to NYC in May of 2019 to perform at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem! Click on "Jazz Education" for more information.
Meet our Founder
Erica von Kleist moved from NYC to Montana after graduating from Juilliard and embarking on an extensive career in the jazz scene. Having performed alongside Wynton Marsalis, Arturo Sandoval and Kristin Chenoweth, Erica wanted to create an organization that showcased the incredible musical talent residing the the Flathead while giving back to the community. Groovetrail has become a source of live entertainment for residents of nursing homes while providing paid work for local musicians at the same time.
Being a product of great jazz education programs, Erica has made it possible to provide these same impactful experiences for the students of the Flathead Valley through Groovetrail. For more information about Erica von Kleist, visit www.ericavonkleist.com
