Flathead Ellington Project

The Flathead Ellington Project

Open to all high-school instrumental music students, this All-Star group of includes talented students from Whitefish, Columbia Falls and Flathead High Schools. The group meets weekly for rehearsals, lessons and sectionals, and will perform locally in preparation for their trip to New York City to perform at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem.


Led by David Johnke, Mark McCrady and Sky Thoreson, the members of the group are:

Groovetrail Jazz Camp

The Groovetrail Jazz Camp

Every summer Groovetrail partners with Mark McCrady and Whitefish High School on a fun week of music education dedicated to America's greatest art form, and is open to all middle and high school students valley -wide.

This affordable day camp runs from 9am to noon every day, and teaches students about ensemble playing, soloing, compositionStudents perform for friends and family, and this year's guest teaching artist was tap dance phenom DeWitt Fleming Jr!
